From learning to ski at Alyeska at age two to more than a decade in Teton Gravity Research films, Tim’s career has been shaped by natural terrain, remote mountains and the people he shares them with.
Alyeska was the first terrain park.
Tim Durtschi grew up in Anchorage and learned to ski at Alyeska. Natural transitions, cliffs, wind lips and deep snow became the features that shaped his skiing.
That approach carried into freeski competitions and film. He has worked with Warren Miller, Teton Gravity Research and Field Productions, traveling for snow and filming in Alaska, British Columbia, Wyoming, Austria, Japan and beyond.
Alaska remains the anchor. The Chugach Mountains are home terrain and a reference point for bigger objectives: read the mountain, rely on the crew, make good decisions and keep progressing.

Progression is shared.
Tim has spoken about learning big-mountain craft from experienced athletes such as Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, then passing those lessons forward. TGR has documented Tim’s mentorship of Kai Jones through film trips, Alaska terrain and ski-mountaineering objectives.
This site is designed to document those places, projects and connections, not just list results on an athlete résumé.
